Nachdem Alarmstufe Rot die Vorgeschichte des ersten Serienteils erzählt hat, setzt ihn Tiberian Sun fort: Die GDI will das wuchernde Tiberium eindämmen; Nod experimentiert mit den Grünkristallen, um Supersoldaten zu erschaffen. Es herrscht wieder Krieg, also errichten Sie wieder Stützpunkte, ernten wieder Tiberium und schlagen wieder Schlachten. Letztere leiden unter der wackeligen Balance: Die Artillerie von Nod ist eindeutig übermächtig.
