Der in Nonnengestalt das alte rumaenische Kloster und
die Ordensschwestern heimsuchende Daemon Valak
konnte sich vier Jahre zuvor gerade noch so in die
Unterwelt retten. Danach schien vorerst Ruhe. Doch
nun, 1985 irgendwo in Frankreich, gibt es wieder
mysterioese Tote. Der Ermordete ist ein Pfarrer und
fuer Schwester Irene (Taissa Farmiga) beginnt damit
der Albtraum von vorne. Um sie herum passieren naemlich
nach dem Tod des Geistlichen wieder immer mehr Dinge,
die sich mit den Regeln der Menschenwelt einfach nicht
mehr erklaeren lassen. Irene braucht nicht lange, bis
sie sich im Klaren darueber ist, dass es der Daemon
Valak ist, der zurueckgekehrt ist und nun sein
moerderisches Unwesen treibt. Ein erneutes
Aufeinandertreffen der beiden scheint unausweichlich
